After the great success of the first two editions held in 2012 and 2013, we had no doubts about "transporting" our winery once more to Madrid City Centre. The Hotel Wellington was again the chosen venue for the 'Los 90+ de La Rioja Alta, S.A.' tasting, where our guests —club members, customers and friends— were able to thoroughly enjoy a tasting of our four wineries' vintages and brands which this year earned 90 or more points in the tastings by leading international critics (Robert Parker, Wine Spectator, Decanter, Guía Peñín, Proensa, ABC, etc.).

Without a doubt, it is a truly special event, as we are the only family of wineries with all its wines —whites and reds, Crianzas, Reservas and Gran Reservas, from Rioja, Galicia or Ribera, affordable or Premium— located at the top of this demanding ladder. Great wines which our club members tasted exclusively with their relatives and friends. In addition, there were "special guest stars": the Club de Cosecheros wines of La Rioja Alta S.A, Áster and Torre de Oña. These wines are never scored, as they are made exclusively for club members and are never submitted to external tastings.

Moreover, the 2014 tasting had enjoyed an exceptional incentive, the first Gran Reserva 890 'Selección Especial' in the 125-year history of La Rioja Alta, S.A. It is a wine of extraordinary quality which was extensively praised by guests. It was also presented to the Spanish trade press at a tasting —also held in the Hotel Wellington— which was led by the president of La Rioja Alta, S.A., Guillermo de Aranzabal and the winemaker Julio Sáenz.
