New great international recognition for Viña Ardanza. The emblematic wine produced by La Rioja Alta, S.A. has been chosen best Spanish red wine of 2020 by Decanter, one of the most important wine publications in the world. Viña Ardanza's 2012 vintage is therefore highlighted in the international Top 100 Wines of the Year, recently published in the January 2021 issue of the British magazine, an eagerly awaited list of the most outstanding wines produced during these twelve months.
Decanter's Spanish wine specialist, Master of Wine Sarah Jane Evans, describes it as a "warming, nutty, complex Rioja" awarding it 94 points; a highly recommended wine "with layers of fruit and a softness of dark cherry fruit on the palate” and “soft tannins… elegantly poised, with a long, savoury finish.”
Viña Ardanza 2012 is made with Tempranillo (80%) and Garnacha (20%) grapes from the winery's own choice vineyards in Cenicero, Fuenmayor and Tudelilla. It particularly stands out for its balance, silkiness and power, and for its renowned personality. Viña Ardanza is the standard bearer of the best updated Rioja classicism in the more than 70 countries where La Rioja Alta, S.A. has an international presence.
