2015 ABC Guide: 2004 Gran Reserva 904, best wine

The newly released 2015 ABC wine guide places the 2004 vintage of the Gran Reserva 904 at the top of the list. The 97 points awarded by its editor, Juan Fernández-Cuesta, put this Tempranillo and Graciano (10%) blend at the top of the list of this renowned annual guide.

After tasting and rating more than 1,500 Spanish wines, Fernández-Cuesta considered that the 2004 Gran Reserva 904 deserved the highest score in view of its "fascinating balance, the magic of a spectacular vintage, the wisdom of a winemaker, the flavour of a Tempranillo and the greatness it holds."

In his description, the journalist believes that this Gran Reserva 904 is a "singular" wine that becomes "increasingly intimate and desirable." A wine in which the "time in the bottle prompts it to display all its virtues."

The new edition of the ABC guide also includes other wines from our winery group among the most prominent. This is the case of the Viña Ardanza 2005 and Áster Finca El Otero 2010 (on sale soon) which earned 94 points each, the Viña Arana 2006 with 93 points and the Torre de Oña Reserva 2010 with 92.

This guide sets an economic limit when selecting the best wines. That is the only reason why the 2001 Gran Reserva 890 'Selección Especial' was not included, as it was also awarded 97 points in the Fernández-Cuesta's weekly column in ABC newspaper (14 November 2014).
