Gran Reserva 904 No. 1 on 'Wine Enthusiast' list of Top 100 wines in the world

The 2005 Gran Reserva 904 is considered the best wine in the world in 2016 by the American publication Wine Enthusiast. The renowned magazine is one of the most influential on the international market and it just published its eagerly awaited annual list of Top 100 international wines. It includes the most outstanding wines of the year and the wine by La Rioja Alta, S.A. is at the top.

The extraordinary result, is yet another confirmation of the tremendous worldwide success of this vintage of the Gran Reserva 904 but even more so taking into account that no less than 22,000 wines were tasted by the Wine Enthusiast tasting panel this year. Of these, only 100 wines from 15 different countries managed to make this exclusive list, which includes wines from all styles.

The wine magazine is very descriptive in its assessment of the 2005 Gran Reserva 904. “One look, one whiff, one taste and you're swooning,”  says editor Michael Schachner, who then goes on to label the wine as “the epitome of elegance.”

La Rioja Alta, S.A. reported in early November that there are no stocks of this wine in its cellars and that it will therefore not be available on the market this Holiday Season. Despite this, the Haro House took the “hard decision” of not bringing ahead the release of the next vintage harvest because they have always been “totally committed to the highest quality, and so is our long-term business vision.”
