La Rioja Alta, S.A. Best Exporter, 13th 'Mercados del Vino' Awards

The publication Mercados del Vino y la Distribución announced the winners of its 13th annual Business Awards and gave La Rioja Alta, S.A. the ‘Best Exporting Effort’ prize. The pandemic made it necessary to hold the event online but the Ministers of Industry, Trade and Tourism, Reyes Maroto and Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas were nonetheless present. It is, in any case, an event not to be missed for the main representatives of the value chain, who recognize the work of companies and their contribution to the development of the wine industry.

The President of La Rioja Alta, S.A., Guillermo de Aranzabal, sincerely thanked Mercados del Vino y la Distribución for this award, recognition of the extensive export track record of this winery in Haro’s Station District. “We have been exporting for 130 years and trading around the world is basic in our growth,” said Aranzabal.

“We still have a lot to do on export markets but we are now present in over 70 countries with all our brands, particularly in restaurants and wine shops, which is good for the image of both our wines and of Spanish wine in general. Awards like this greatly motivate us to continue along this path,” he stated.

In addition, La Rioja Alta, S.A. was also nominated in the ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ category for its Viña Ardanza Solidario co-operation programme, through which it allocates 1% of its profits each year to agricultural projects in the Third World. Monteplata, the company that distributes the Group's wines in Madrid, was a finalist in the category of ‘Best Distributor for its work in bringing wines closer to the public’.
