Lagar de Cervera 2014, one of the best seven Spanish whites. The Albariño made by La Rioja Alta, S.A. winemaking group in Rías Baixas is one of the seven wines included in the article ‘Bright, pure and rich: The 7 best Spanish white wines‘, recently published in the online edition of the British newspaper Daily Express.
The wine journalist and renowned taster Jamie Goode drew up this exclusive list of recommendations which particularly stand out for being “the best value for money whites” on the English market.
Goode underscores the great evolution of Spanish white wines in recent years, and this is what he says about Lagar de Cervera:
“This is a delicious Albariño that’s lively and focused with zesty grapefruit and lemon flavours, a bit of pithiness and a keen citrussy finish.”
In addition, Lagar de Cervera 2014 is also featured in the Weekday Wines article published in the November issue Decanter magazine. The Tastings Director, Christelle Guibert, included the wine in a selection of 25 “exciting, accessible” international wines readily available in the UK for less than £20. This is her description:
“The very fashionable Albariño grape is at the heart of this bright, aromatic white, which has notes of peach, ripe melon and pineapple. Very textbook in style, the characters found on the nose are mirrored on a fairly dense palate. This shows complexity, with a creamy sensation on the finish”.
Made with 100% Albariño grape from vineyards owned by the winery in O Rosal (Pontevedra) and distributed in the UK by Armit Wines, Lagar de Cervera 2014 stands out for its great aromatic intensity and many varietal nuances. It is a fresh, elegant, fleshy, well-balanced wine perfect to enjoy as an appetiser and ideal with salads, seafood, fish, rice, or fowl.
