La Rioja Alta, S.A. pays tribute to the emblematic Viña Ardanza in San Sebastian

With the slogan “Wine culture unites us”, La Rioja Alta, S.A. held a very special day on Thursday 19 May in Donostia-San Sebastian, 2016 European Capital of Culture. The wine group organised an event in the Hotel de Londres y de Inglaterra where clients, friends and members of the Club de Cosecheros enjoyed the most awarded wines by national and international critics. The select group termed the ‘90+ Club’, includes the Gran Reserva 890 and Gran Reserva 904 and what the UK magazine The Wine Merchant recently proclaimed as ‘Best red wine in the world’: Áster Finca El Otero 2012.

In addition, La Rioja Alta, S.A. also paid tribute to one of its most famous brands around the world, Viña Ardanza, with a unique vertical tasting of three great vintages representing the wine’s past, present and future. Participants had the opportunity of tasting the 2001 vintage (third ‘Reserva Especial in the history of Viña Ardanza), the 2007 vintage served in a stunning 12 litre bottle and the 2008, the next vintage to come out of this iconic brand.

Donostia-San Sebastian and La Rioja Alta, S.A. have enjoyed a very special relationship for many decades. It is not by chance that the winery’s headquarters were based in the city until 1966.
