'The Wine Advocate' (Robert Parker) gives historic scores to our wines

After Jay Miller's tasting session in the winery, Parker has published a series of magnificent notes about the past, present and future vintages of Gran Reserva 904 and Viña Ardanza

Historical. That's how we can describe the notes published recently in 'The Wine Advocate', the magazine edited by influential critic Robert Parker, about our wines after the vertical tasting session of Gran Reserva 904 and Viña Ardanza carried out by his close associate Jay Miller during his recent visit to La Rioja Alta, S.A., where he was able to enjoy the fantastic moment when past, present and future vintages of these two great wines came together.

Starting with the oldest vintages, we have to highlight the 97 points awarded by this North American magazine to 1964 Viña Ardanza Reserva Especial, as this is Parker's highest ever score for one of our wines. Also magnificent,however, are the 96 points awarded to the 1964 Gran Reserva 904 and the 95 points earned by Gran Reserva 904, vintages 1976 and 1977 and the 1973 Viña Ardanza.

Referring to the 1997 Gran Reserva 904 (currently on the market) and 2001 Viña Ardanza, the news is also positive, as after this session, Robert Parker decided to revise their previous scores upwards to 94 points.

However, besides revising the past and the present, this renowned magazine was able taste some of the future vintages of these excellent wines made by La Rioja Alta, S.A. In view of their scores, 96 points for 2001 Gran Reserva 904 and 93+ for 2004 Viña Ardanza, they evidently have a splendid future.
