Lagar de Cervera 2009, soul of albariño
THE 2009 CROP IN THE RIAS BAIXAS DESIGNATION OF ORIGIN
July was very cold and wetter than in previous years and August was dry, with high peak temperatures that continued into September. Good quality harvest with ripe, healthy and balanced grapes with all the potential of the albariño variety. The volume was slightly greater than in 2008, with a grape/wine yield of less than 65%. Our vineyards are included in the “Integrated Production” environmental programme.
COMPOSITION
100% albariño grapes from our O Rosal and Cambados vineyards (a total of 77 hectares).
PRODUCTION
The harvest started on September 16. The grapes were picked by hand into 20 kg crates and taken in refrigerated vehicles to the winery. The grapes were immediately de-stemmed for pressing at 10ºC. The must obtained was cleaned by static decanting before it was taken to the alcoholic fermentation vats for processing at a controlled temperature of 15⁰ to 17⁰ C. The wine was then transferred with its fine lees to new vats for partial malolactic fermentation, seeking balance and this variety’s maximum expression.
TASTING NOTES
Pale yellow in colour, very bright with greenish tones. Its bouquet is intense and typical of the variety, with highlights of very ripe pitted and tropical fruits and citric notes (grapefruit). On the palate it is bright and fresh, balanced and well-structured, with a pleasant and lively aftertaste. It is best served at 10⁰ - 12⁰ C.
SERVING SUGGESTIONS
