The Tinto del Pais tempranillo variety planted on our El Caño, Dehesilla and Picón estates, with lime-clay soils, give rise to Áster crianza, a typical Ribera del Duero wine with a regal robe and intense fruity aromas hinting of the delicate wood of the new American and French oak casks in which it has been aged for a year. It is powerful and challenging to the palate with an aftertaste reflecting its youth, vigour and the land from which it comes.
The fruit from Fuentecojo and El Otero, with a sandy-loam soil, is used to make Aster reserva, but not every year. This wine has a bright robe with elegant highlights acquired while it was ageing for 24 months in new French and two-year old American oak casks. It is a full-bodied wine with an intense and complex bouquet, with fine, silky tannins perfected while it ages in the bottle. It has a long and refined aftertaste.
